For a long time a bunch of clients my company built products for wouldn’t pay the cost of standing up a test environment for them, so for those clients we actually did our dev work in production.
My work hired an amazing front end guy. After a year of hard work and OKs by the higher ups they prepped to release his reworked front end. It was beautiful, simple, effective, responsive, and just generally perfect.
The higher ups went "actually... This is nice, but what if we started from scratch and tried THIS instead?"
This is the story of why my company no longer has a front end developer.

Always fun to give an update of my progress to my (non programmer)-boss. Some days I can tell him "Well, I finished half the features I had scheduled for the next week in one day" and other times its "Well, I spent the last 2 days trying to install a program that just won't cooperate."
