I have always believed there is good money to be made modernizing old code. Then i have a reality check and realize tgat means understanding the old code when all you have are a bunch of old requirements documents and nobody is around anymore to tell you if it is right. We came accross ten or fifteen console jobs at my last job that had no archived code and no documentation. The name is all we had to go on (short of decompiling it and trying to sort that out....no thanks). So we turned them off one at a time and if nonody screamed we kept them off. Still don't know what most of them were doing.
